Memoranda. The ship Franklin of New Bedford, sailed from that port of the 16th day of April 1839 on a whaling voyage to New Zealand.

Journal of a whaling voyage kept by John Cresson with details on landfalls, whales sighted and killed, barrels of oil, desertions, and comments on native New Zealanders. The totals given for the voyage were 427 barrels of sperm oil and 1,800 barrels of whale oil.
